Our skin produces its own fats, which we quickly destroy due to our lifestyle. The latter needs to be replaced, otherwise our skin becomes dry, rough, dull and less elastic. You know that feeling of dryness, as if there is not enough skin and it is tightening on all sides?
Well, unfortunately, we can no longer influence the formation of elastin (the substance that makes the skin stretchy) in adulthood. Elastin is what it is, and unfortunately it breaks down over the years. However, we can soften the skin in other ways, especially by keeping the skin well hydrated (this means that there is enough water in the skin) and, of course, protecting the skin from water loss. It is still true that the most important thing for skin hydration is the amount of fluids you drink and eat. However, the skin's ability to retain water also decreases with age. Therefore, it is essential to help the skin from both the inside and the outside. From the inside, by drinking sufficient amounts of fluids (despite skin problems, caution is needed for patients whose health dictates restrictions on fluid intake!), and from the outside, by protecting the skin with quality fats. In all skin care products, we also take advantage of the fact that water and fats do not mix. After using body butter, we create a thin layer of fat on the skin, through which water from the skin cannot pass; This way we can retain water in the skin.
Another little tip when using body butter: your skin will be most grateful if you apply body butter right after showering, when you have gently wiped the water off your body with a towel and your skin is still slightly damp. This is when the skin will absorb the nourishing butter very well.
Yummy, I would say!
